Writer’s Church: Every Sunday is also a celebration of art as a tool of resistance. We have Writer’s Church, and we have poetry that honors the art and practice of sacred storytelling. During our Sunday Celebration Writers Church you can start writing all the things you are grateful for with one of our free journals and pens that we pass out every Sunday.
“We The People” Town Hall on May 31
“We The People” Town Hall—on Sunday, May 31, 12:45– 2:30pm—is a civic engagement and policy advocacy town hall made possible through our faith-sponsored SF Foundation Grant. Connect with fellow advocates, hear updates on community initiatives, and add your voice to the policy conversations shaping our shared future — light lunch will be served in Freedom Hall.
Community Forum with Senator Cory Booker on June 5
Senator Cory Booker will be speaking at GLIDE on Friday June 5 at 3pm, and attendance is free for the Glide Memorial Church community provided you RSVP for your Early Bird Tickets by the end of this weekend! After the Early Bird period expires, tickets will be sold for $15 apiece or a donation of your choice, so please take advantage of this rare opportunity to hear directly from a leader at the center of America’s most pressing civil rights battles.
Honoring Shireen McSpadden on June 14
On Sunday, June 14, 11AM Celebration only, we will be honoring Shireen McSpadden, who served as the Executive Director of the Department of Homelessness and Supportive Housing for the City and County of San Francisco, for her years of service. Del Seymour will be a guest preacher and a community engagement discussion moderated by Del and Min. Freddy Martin will follow service. Topics covered will include civil rights work, fatherhood, and the liberation of Juneteenth; more speaker details to come.
House of GLIDE: Celebrating Pride & Power on June 16
House of GLIDE: Celebrating Pride & Power will happen Tuesday, June 16 at 6PM. This event, co-hosted by our Center for Social Justice and The Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence, will feature performances from GLIDE’s Ensemble and Sir JoQ and Crew. Honey Mahogany, Sister Roma, Juanita More, Tom Ammiano, and Minister Marvin K. White will speak.
Runway of Pride at Glide on June 23
In partnership with SF Pride, we are hosting a fabulous fashion show packed with our local stars, on Tuesday, June 23 at 6:30PM. The headliner will be Pat Cleveland in a custom gown by Naeem Khan, and models will include: Honey Mahogany, Sister Roma, Joel Goodrich, Aubrey Brewster, Senator Scott Wiener, NBA star Festus Ezeli, former Mayor London Breed, and Dr. Gina Fromer. Glide Memorial Church marches in SF Pride Parade on June 28
On Sunday, June 28 at 9:30 AM, we will be meeting on Market Street near Embarcadero Plaza (exact location to come) and having a streetside Celebration instead of gathering in the Sanctuary. Put on all your rainbows and all your sparkles, and join us in celebrating authenticity, pride, and the interdependence of all life. Please contact Min. Roots and Resonance: An Arts in Ministry Exchange
On May 16, 2026, Glide Memorial Church and City of Refuge UUC produced a day of teaching, fellowship, and artistic exchange. Glide’s Director of Audio Visual, Mark Montgomery French, moderated a panel with pianist and composer Tammy Hall, Worship Director Eric Gilbert, and Minister of Music Derrick Hall. Grammy winner and Bay Area legend Linda Tillery and the Cultural Heritage Choir led a music workshop.

Legacy and Liberation: A Conversation with Dr. Angela Davis. She is a lifelong activist and scholar who has shaped Black liberation and freedom.

Every Saturday from 10:00 – 11:30 am – Pranayama breath work sessions at Glide. Arrive 15 minutes early. Dress in comfortable clothes. Pranayama breath work sessions at Glide as presented by Ria & Dev for the community is based in an ancient Indian Yoga practice, and is being #pranayama offered to our congregation and community for better health, body, mind, & spirit connection. The First Sunday of the Month is Communion Sunday. Those who are interested should stop by during the 9 and 11 am Celebrations. We provide a diversity of communion elements to meet the varying dietary needs of Glide Memorial Church.

The Care Choir is led by Glide Ensemble members and serves the community with music outside the church who are in hospice, palliative care, or wish for music ministry to visit them. Contact Director of Music Ministries Zoë Ellis at zellis@glide.org

Keeping it Real meets online from 1 to 3 pm on Sundays. Everyone’s in recovery from something. Had a hard week and need some support? Keeping It Real is a space to talk about anything that is on your heart, to break bread and get support. To receive access to the online meeting, please contact fmartin@glide.org.

Weekly Sober Support Meetings

The Glide Ensemble sing, play, clap and sway, spreading the spirit of empowerment in an infectious message of diversity, acceptance and love. Choose a song that really speaks to you in a soulful way. Make a 3-5 minute video of yourself singing the song from start to finish. Send the video, via email, to the Glide Music Program.

Stop by the Church’s Fellowship Table, every Tuesday from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm, located at GLIDE’S Tenderloin Community Resource Hub on Ellis Street. The Fellowship Table is part of the Church’s “Ministry of Presence” and community organizing, and is a public space for compassionate care, respite, prayer, and community connections.
We need volunteers to help with a variety of tasks at the church. Our greatest needs during Sunday Celebrations include, help with the Glide Store, ushering and AV help. Volunteers are also needed to help with our congregational life groups and serving with the many programs caring for the homeless and hungry at the Glide Foundation.
