Glide Memorial Church Congregational Life Groups empower individuals and communities to share ideas and turn the Church’s message of love into positive action in the world.

Congregational Life Groups are open to all who wish to attend.

The Glide Memorial Church Board helps with leadership, financial oversite and the governing policies of the congregation.  You can learn more about the board here.

The Fellowship Table is a space for prayer and listening.  This ministry of presence is offered on the sidewalk in front of 330 Ellis every Tuesday from 11 am to about 2 pm.

Meditation:  Zenkei Sangha is a collection of individuals forming a Sangha, which is a group of people who meet together, like a congregation but smaller with the intention of learning about dharma. the teaching of the Buddha; basically the knowledge, and acting it out in a way which improves the lives of the unhoused, those addicted to substances, or those who are not otherwise recognized in a society in which they don’t feel comfortable. The Sangha offers weekly public meditations at Glide Memorial Church on Mondays at 6pm, (also Tuesdays and Thursdays at 1:30pm on zoom), Harm Reduction Meditation, hospice support, and memorials for residents of Single Room Occupancies (SROs).

The Glide Pride Team is a community group at Glide Church.  Our mission is to educate the world on social justice, unconditional love and acceptance of the LGBTQ community. We take pride in leading Glide’s efforts in promoting equal justice for LGBTQ-related causes, supporting community organizations in the greater San Francisco area and other Glide community groups.  Learn more here.

The Sangha offers weekly public meditations at Glide Memorial Church on Mondays at 6pm and on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 1:30pm via Zoom.

Specializing in Harm Reduction Meditation, the Sangha also supports hospice care and leads memorials for residents of Single Room Occupancies (SROs).

Bible Study

Bible Study at Glide is a weekly invitation to wrestle with the sacred text and to read ourselves into it. Led by Zae Illo, this group explores scripture through a liberation and justice lens—asking big questions, reading between the lines, and reclaiming the stories we were told didn’t include us. No prior knowledge required—just bring your curiosity, your questions, and your voice.

Fellowship Table / Outreach Ministry – Zae Illo & Linda – Every Tuesday in front of Glide at 330 Ellis 11:00am-2:00pm 

The Fellowship Table is a sidewalk ministry of presence, prayer, and connection—offered every Tuesday from 11:00am to 2:00pm outside 330 Ellis. This table is a holy altar on the streets, where people can receive prayer, resources, hugs, listening, and love. All are welcome to serve and be served. 

 

Yoga – Fiorella – Every Tuesday in Sanctuary 430-530 & Every Thursday 530-630 

Glide’s Yoga Ministry offers healing movement and sacred stillness to the community. Taught by Fiorella & team, our yoga classes are trauma-informed, body-affirming, and open to all abilities. This is more than exercise—it is embodiment as spiritual practice. 

WEDNESDAY

Prayer Circle

Rick Ross – Wednesdays, 5:30-6:30pm in person Maya Angelou Room 201 and on zoom 

The Prayer Circle is a sacred space to lift up prayers of the people—spoken and unspoken, named and unnamed. Led by Rick Ross, this group meets to pray with, for, and as the community. Whether you’re holding grief, gratitude, or something you can’t name, come be surrounded by the healing witness of collective prayer.

Ensemble

Zoe Ellis – In person Wednesdays in Sanctuary 6:00pm -8:00pm 

The Glide Ensemble is not just a choir—it is a movement of music and ministry. Under the direction of Zoe Ellis, the Ensemble uplifts the message of love, justice, and radical welcome every Sunday. Rehearsals are both spiritual and musical, and new voices are always welcome to make a joyful, soulful, revolutionary noise.

White Antiracist Group (WAG)

To engage, sustain, deepen and practice our inner work, learning, conversations, and actions around whiteness that can enable us to act as effective allies, personally, locally and at systemic levels to dismantle racism.

Burrellercise – Gregory Burrell – Every Thursday in Freedom Hall 4:30pm -5:30pm 

A dance, movement, and exercise combined class with Spiritual Expression and creative movement meant for seniors, elders, and people with disabilities. Low Impact and made for people with varying levels of experience. 

FRIDAY

Spiritual Community Care Network – Freddy – Everyday except Friday & Saturday 

This trauma-informed training program equips community members to provide spiritual care, grief support, and crisis response rooted in love, harm reduction, and justice. Led by Freddy Martin, this training prepares participants to be spiritual first responders—offering presence, listening, and compassionate action. 

SATURDAY

Breathwork – Ria Tandon – Every Saturday on zoom from 10:00 am -11:30 am 

Explore basic Indian breathwork techniques rooted in ancient yoga practices with our youth instructor. Reduce stress, increase attentiveness, and calming techniques for healthier living.

Glide Ushers/Sunday Church Ambassadors– Every 2nd Sunday in person Maya Angelou room 201 – 1230-230 (zoom optional) 

Ushers at Glide Memorial Church help provide support during Sunday Celebrations and special events. These fine individuals greet, guide, and love members, friends, and guests at worship. 
Ushers Mission: To act as ambassadors of Glide’s love and unconditional acceptance. 

We do this by: 

  • Greeting at Taylor Gate and Sanctuary entrances 
  • Helping with seating and comfort (tissues, fans, journals) 
  • Supporting collections and sacred items 
  • Assisting in Freedom Hall and special events 
  • Being a consistent, loving, safe presence

Keep it Real

Keeping it Real is a congregational life support program open to everyone. This support group is devoted to exploring recovery from substance abuse, domestic violence and other dysfunctional behaviors – anything keeping you from experiencing the full power of your authentic spiritual self.

Communion – Marvin & Freddy – Every 1st Sunday in Freedom Hall 

Communion at Glide is the practice of radical remembrance. Led by Marvin and Freddy, this group prepares and distributes the elements of Communion during Sunday Celebration and special services. We break bread and pour love for all—no exceptions, no exclusions. All are welcome to join in this sacred service. 

Glide Reads

Glide Reads is a group dedicated to reading and discussing books that engage with race, class, gender, sexuality, faith, and justice. Through literature, we deepen our collective analysis and capacity to love and liberate. Glide Reads also offers opportunities to meet authors, host readings, and connect literature with action. 


Sunday Celebration Prayer/Witness – 9 & 11 am services 

This team holds the sacred role of offering prayer and testimony during Sunday Celebrations. Whether by calling down the Spirit in spoken word or lifting up the names of those in need, the Prayer/Witness team reminds us that worship is participatory, prophetic, and personal. Training provided.

The Glide PRIDE Team is a community group committed to educating the world on social justice, unconditional love, and acceptance of the LGBTQ+ community. We lead Glide’s efforts in promoting justice for LGBTQ-related causes, supporting queer organizations in SF, and celebrating queer joy and sacredness at Glide and beyond. Learn more here.

Back to School (BTS) – Steve Hyzer – Seasonal in August only 

The Back to School Team supports children and families in our community with back-to-school supplies, uniforms, haircuts, and love. We believe in setting our kids up for success by making sure they are equipped and uplifted as they head into a new academic year. 

Freedom Hall / Sundays – Pam Noli & Freddy Martin – Every Sunday 8:30am-1:00pm in Freedom Hall 

Freedom Hall is where ministry meets meals. This Sunday extension of Celebration offers a space for gathering, sharing stories, receiving prayer, and serving one another. Coordinated by Pam and Freddy, this ministry brings dignity, music, coffee, and sacred presence to all who walk through the doors.
